"progress" in the post-install era

can you remove the old acroread 5.x ?

sudo apt-get remove --purge acroread*
is probably enough

then :
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install acroread

it's possible that you have to log out and log in again first

imho it's best to remove all and then install 1 properly
