OldWorld Mac Package Installer Issues (Was ... best venue...)

To be clear, it's a text based screen, not the GUI nor CLI.

I initially downloaded the Ubuntu PPC ISO from the ubuntu.com site. I
assumed it was Ubuntu, but the splash screen said "edubuntu."

I then downloaded what I thought was Kubuntu, from the Kubuntu site, and
again, the splash screen said "edubunto."

And, to be clear, the package installer is not running from within the
windowed environment. It appears to drop out of X Windows, and back to the
text based installer screen.

At this point, I think it's a generic ubuntu thing, not related to either
KDE or Gnome.

Yes, please! I feel like I'm close enough to smell the napalm - and
victory...although maybe I'm up here alone on Hamburger Hill...
