In my opinion identicall

In my opinion also identical, but depends on which field of usage you
want to use it, so in some special multimedia context (like Flash, which
is a headache in Ubuntu PPC) OSX wins, but when you wanna use freeware,
or like to connect ftp drives read/write Ubuntu sure is the better choice.

Also depends on the kind of Hardware you wanna install. My wlan Card
(Orinoco) for instance works out of the box in Ubuntu and in OSX you
need a special driver from sourceforge which is a headage, but my
multifunctional device (printer + scanner from Canon) doesn't work under
Ubuntu, but works "fine" under MacOSX, but also not as good as I'd like
it to work

Ubuntu wins there (hotplug) from my experience

Ubuntu wins, debians apt is the best package manager I've ever seen.

never had any of them either on Ubuntu nor on OSX

Depends if you prefer freeware or commercial software. So freeware is
kind of a headage in OSX, so it supports X11-display, but this uses a
different keymap than the standard OSX Software, so this gets pretty
nerving.
Commercial software is normally a headage in Ubuntu, so the freely
available Flash Plugins for firefox,... don't work normally lead to a
crash of my firefox,... There's only IBM-Java implementation which works
on Ubuntu PPC, which I don't like, because the install is somehow
nerving (installs in unspecivic directories, you gotta set sumbol links,...)

Conlusion:
So I prefer to run both Ubuntu and MacOSX, because both have their
advantages and disadvantages. In the moment I run only Ubuntu, because I
wasn't able to buy MacOSX here in a store now for 3 month, it was either
sold out or not available at all registered Apple-dealers near my home.

Hope this helps,

Rainer
