I must agree:

I've been using a PowerBook G3 Pismo (aka 2000 aka Firewire) 512 MB
RAM with OS X since 02/2003 (started with 10.2.3 and have upgraded
ever since, right up to 10.4.4. last week) and have been extremely
happy with it. It ain't no speed demon, but, then again, neither was
Ubuntu on that machine. However, it runs everything we need and then
some (MS Office, JMP, Safari, VLC and Ubuntu for goofing around in).

My wife now uses it most of the time and she's happy with it (she
grumbles about the internet but that's because I haven't figured out
what's interfering with our 802.11b network... there are at least 6
networks active around us (who broadcast SSID... and, I suspect there
will be others like our network who don't broadcast SSID) so I suspect
that there's a lot of interference).

256 MB is the bare bones minimum to RUN OS X comfortably (IMNSHO), and
512 MB is recommended.

Good advice.

Eric.
