ubuntu bootsplash problem

Hi,

My ubuntu bootsplash comes up but stops at "loading
modules" then disappears and reverts to the console.
How can I fix this? It was working fine before. The
only major change recently was that I installed and
then uninstalled kubuntu-desktop.
