Dapper installation woes (checksum ....)

I've now downgraded back to brezzy. Installation worked ;) and my cpu consumption is back to 0% when idle.

 What I'd expect really!!

The thing is, if one has to reinstall from afresh every time a distro releases a new version, then there's nothing to stop that user choosing another distro to try.

I'm gonna stick with Ubuntu for now, but if the next distro has the same problems, I'll change. And stop recommending Ubuntu.

 Okay, rant over!!

Yep, much the same - burnt an ISO at 4x, looked at the live version, ran
the checksum and got one error, risked the install and stalled at 73%.
Burnt a new ISO, exactly the same. Burnt a third ISO, this time with
Xubuntu and no checksum errors ... stalled at 74%

When a number of people report hitting the same problem, I for one am
minded to suspect the problem is upstream of the individual users. I
hope there will soon be an authoritative explanation of what's gone
wrong, and a clear explanation of how mere users can successfully
install Dapper. Preferably without having to go through hoops like
installing an earlier version first!
