Mouse and Virtual Terminal in Ubuntu and Kubuntu

I've been switching back and forth between Ubuntu and Kubuntu and one
interesting (to me!) difference is the amount of control over mouse
sensitivity!
With U, I can tame my mouse (actually, it's a trackball built in to a
wireless keyboard) to where I can manipulate it easily, but K leaves it
too sensitive!
Another is the screen resolution in the Virtual Terminal: U's is way too
low and difficult (for my Intel graphics chipset and Dell LCD monitor)
to adjust, while K's is OK.
I may have to install other distros to get what I want. Ah, the joys of
being retired!! ;-)
