I'm not sure what burn speed would have to do with asking for a uid &
password, can you expand/explain? Plus, in this case the OP received the
DVD from Ubuntu so I would expect that their burns should be good.

Just figured out that both 34967 and 39033 are both from Jerry (NicolasA).

I didn't burn my own CD, it is from Ubuntu, the "official" CD with their
logo on the CD and the CD envelope it came in. I did a CD check and it
came out OK. I also did a memory check and that was also OK. I have over
1 Gig of RAM which should be more than enough. I might go ahead and burn
my own CD to see if that solves the

But the bit from 34967 from PiF:

Try with:

username: ubuntu
password: ubuntu
This is the default username and password's Ubuntu live CD .

has me a little puzzled... there should be no UID/PW required for any
live CD - at least not that I am aware of. And the comments from other
users on that question indicate that this is not just a single instance
with Jerry. Maybe ShipIt screwed up and burned the discs from a daily
build that required a UID/PW in the installer?
