I think it would probably be more correct to say that there are,
"proof-of-concept" virus for Linux. To the best of my knowledge, they
haven't ever been "in the wild". Frankly, I can't think of a way they
could spread like virus normally do, there would need to be a lot of
servers out there running as root. Rootkits now, are perhaps another
matter, I can think of an attack vector for those and they are certainly
not as easy to find and clean. Disclaimer: I am not a security expert nor
do I play one on TV. But you did say short answer, I'm just picky,
basically I agree with you.
