Ubuntu 8.10 and Alfresco install

I have  been unable to successfully install Alfresco Lab3 on Ubuntu 8.10.
I've followed the advice from the
http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Installing_Alfresco_Lab_3_Stable_on_Ubuntu_8.10
and other instructions I've found on the web.  At the bottom of this post
I've pasted info from the catalina file.  I have tried the full labs install
(places it on /opt/Alfresco and runs its own tomcat) and placing the war
version of the file under tomcat.  Neither work, and I only run one version
of tomcat at a time.

Alfresco will start and the share screen will display
(localhost:8080/share), but will not accept any logons.  The alfresco screen
(localhost:8080/alfresco) will not display, I get the error statement from
tomcat saying this resource is not available.

Any suggestions would be welcome.  I've cross posted this to the Alfresco
forum as well.  Thanks for any advice.
