Sorry Roy, but I have to disagree partly with your disagreement. ;-)

When troubleshooting, it is easier to work with aptitude in a terminal.
When something goes wrong, you can just copy/paste the output to a mail
for this technical support mailing list (or to a pastebin).

It's not that I don't trust GUI tools, I just like scrolling terminals.



On a tangent: when I was still on Gentoo (you know, the "compile
everything from source" distro), I had the output of my compilations on
the background of my desktop, semi-transparant, in a sort of greenish,
Matrix-style font. Now *that* looked very cool! :-)
