shared folders/files

I have a network with another 3 pcs (2 of them with Jaunty, the other one with Hardy), i wan to share a folder in my pc with some users, but not with all they.
the problem i have, is that when i try to share the folder with another user, not guest, the other user cant login into the shared folder, even when i 've created it before locally on my system. he/she can view the login windows, but the system grant access.
i've tried creating a desktop user and administrator user, but  still cant get access.
