I just went through this on my LAN. Did you decide on exposing the
folders via NFS or SAMBA? Either way there will be some configuration
needed to set the proper privileges on the target PCs so users over
your LAN can do some combo of read/write/execute.  FWIW I opted for
SAMBA because of the mixture of Windows and dual-boot machines here
in my home in addition to the pure *nix boxes.
