Sound problems...please help!

Sorry for not being clear about the sound issue.
I have a new install Ubuntu 9.04. I did get a limited amount of sound as
in i can play a mp3 or wave file now. also I have the sounds from 9.04
as in the clicks chirps and dings when you open a browser or whatever.
I am new to Linux so pls forgive the lack of terminology. 
My issue now is sound with FlashPlayer.  I have it installed but no
sound. It plays the movies (youtube) and so forth but no sound at all. I
have downloaded all the 3rd party stuff (codecs) as far as I can tell
and still nothing! Any advice would be great.
