Version 8.4.3 and 9.04 hang on installation

Good day,I've been trying to install both versions and get the same results on my system.Package: installation-reports

Boot method: CD install (CD checked out ok)
Image version: University of Waterloo - Comp Sci (version 8.04.03 & 9.04)
Date: October 15, 2009   20:00 cdt

Machine: AMD Tower
Processor:Athlon 
Memory:512
Partitions: contains Windows XP - NTFS

Comments/Problems:
The CD install seems to hang in different spots during the installation of 9.04.  Version 8.4.3 gets all the way to trying to load the partitioning tool and hangs there.
