I really dont think you should reformat your HDD. This is how I did it but
you surely do not have to do it the same way i did. On the contrary :) Most
of all, I don't think the issue is coming from the Wind 7 partition as well.
It sounds to me more hardware related. The Ubuntu install seems to be
checking your system and not liking what it sees. This strange, because i
never had any issues of freezing or even kernel panics when installing
Ubuntu. Had other issues though :) Would you happend to have that kernel
panic error message still ? What I am noticing, is that you are having with
9.10 and 10.04. It seems to me that the issue is as well identical on both.
