Here http://old.nabble.com/ubuntu-users-f12761.html you can search this
mailinglist. I suggest snd-hda-intel as search term since that's the
driver you are using as I read in your first post.

The snd-hda-intel module is the driver for High Definition Audio. This
standard is implemented by manufacturers in many different ways. Most
times this is autodetected. You can add the model of your computer in
your google search.

B.t.w. you haven't explained your problem very clearly: what application
did you use, did the program complain or did you just hear nothing?

You can try the command "lspci -nn | grep audio" (without quotes). In the
output you'll get something like this: 1106:3059 , but with different
numbers. Use the string you get in a google search. See "man lspci" for
an explanation of the lspci command.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HdaIntelSoundHowto is worth reading.

Maybe with the Ubuntu 11.04 BETA live CD your sound will just work, if so
you have the option to debug this problem, wait till Ubuntu 11.04 is
released (end of April) or install an operating system that is in BETA ;)

Good luck!
