I don't know that it will make much difference, but I have these installed:
- compiz
- compiz-core
- compiz-fusion-plugins-extra
- compiz-fusion-plugins-main
- compiz-gnome
- compiz-plugins
- compiz-plugins-extra
- compiz-plugings-main
- compiz-backend-gconf
- compizconfig-settings-manager
- libdecoration0
- python-compizconfig
On the 32bit installed in VirtualBox that I just installed a few days
ago, the drag & drop works as well. That machine won't run Unity because
my graphics card is not ge'wiz' nVidia, but Quadro instead. On that
machine I do have the 'Ubuntu Unity Plugin' checked. Also, I do _not_
have these installed:
- compiz-fusion-plugins-extra
- compiz-fusion-plugins-main
- compiz-gnome
- compiz-plugins-extra
- python-compizconfig
My CCSM looks the same as yours for that section.

Try to find out why your compiz is crashing. I suspect that is the real
problem, particularly if you have to use 'compiz --replace'. Maybe
~/.xsession-errors and /var/log/Xorg.0.log will provide some hints.
Other than that I'm out of ideas... WFM on my 64bit and my 32bit installs.
