Well, I HAD that problem some time ago with Kubuntu. Which is why I
don't use it anymore... they have the sound system creeped out with
~another~ controller bit of K-software. But, they said it would be
"fixed" on 10.10. to use pulse by default. So, I now install ubuntu
first, then add KDE4 after. When I did a fresh install of 10.10 to some
of our office machines, no pavucontrol. That really hurt! It's a
conspiracy.
And, yes, I complained about the 10.4 LTS version of Kubuntu not
becoming fixed for LTS towards the default use of pulse. It did no good.
So, I get all sore-headed and install KDE later as an afterthought, on
top of a gnome install. It makes me feel better, one more gnome install
and one less kubuntu install, for the records.
