ubuntu 12.04, together with Windows XP Pro, blocks the windows access to Verizon modem when Windows XP Pro is booted

By any chance ... is the computer equiped qith two network cards? I had
this problem with one of my computers, where Windows grabed the wrong
(disconnected) one when booting into ...
