WS=> I have a Canon Lide 110 and it works well with Simple Scan. The
problem
is that the color was slightly off when using Simple Scan. I am
now using
XSane and now the colors are right. The colors were not right
immediately
but the XSane program allows color adjustments and now they are
correct.

XSane is more complicated than Simple scan but everything works!
Maybe
your friend should try to see if XSane will work.
