Yes, but the reason he gave was so that he would not have to backup
and restore /home.  I was pointing out that in fact /home can be
preserved over a re-install without having a separate partition.

The main hassle I have had is that I never seemed to get the partition
sizes right and ended up having to resize them.  Mostly due to trying
to make do with discs that are not large enough.

I can see that if you want to do that then a separate partition is a
necessity.  I hope we are not going to fall out over this :)
