Why does the startup disk creator suck so bad?

@Colin, the Launchpad interface notified this way - 'usb-creator-gtk' is 
a binary package. This bug has been assigned to its source package 
'usb-creator' instead." Regarding the version, I couldn't find where to 
specify it.
