Login loop on 18.04

I removed the user from autologin in
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

and that got me into the Xubuntu session.

Now I am having issue with authentication with Private Internet Access 
vpn.  Error mentions Network Manager.

This is after update on 18.04 and reboot.
