That's normal. Well, the device name isn't, but it's a VM, so OK.
If this makes sense, it sounds like it "thinks" it has a GUI and so
the splash screen (I think it's called "plymouth") does not restore
the console into text mode properly -- it is "expecting" the GUI to
take over.
