ifconfig and virtual IP with NetworkManager

When I make a nmcli connection modify "Wired connection 1" +ipv4.addr IP/22
kind of command - it works - which is great.

However - when doing ifconfig that "virtual" IP does not show up.

back on CentOS it showed up as eth1:0 kind of address - is there a way to
get that to show up also under Ubuntu and network manager?
