What happens if you instead ping the IP address?
Like:
ping 192.168.1.2
And as an aside concerning LAN setup:
You should not really use the IP range 192.168.1.0/24 for your LAN.
That is a default used in many places and if you ever think about setting up a
VPN server on your LAN to get remote access then you will be hosed if you try to
connect from a cafe or such where they have set up a router with the defaults...
This happens a lot.
Choose something else like 192.168.189.0/24 instead.
