Which, seeing that good, fast & cheap have been discussed (or cussed)
lately, I'll point out that brother, despite not being cups compatible OOTB,
is still a good deal for me. They have 2 printers I use regularly, the
hll2320
black and white laser that's fairly fast at 22 pages a minute, medium cheap
and long life. And an old now out of production MFC-J6920dw ink squirter
that's medium priced, does an excellent job on glossy color paper at about
3 pages a minute, does letter sized copy paper in duplex at around 10 pages
a minute and handles paper up to tabloid in both the printer and
its top mounted scanner with an auto document feeder that even handles
tabloid.
They both need brothers drivers, made to run with cups. (or xsane). But
they have an installer script that you can run, give it the model #, and
it will download and install, the latest drivers for that printer.
That is what I'd call excellent factory support. I've dealt with several
others
in the past but when a decade old brother hl2120 died after flawlessly
doing about
35 reams of paper with 3 toner's, I walked on by quite a selection of new
stuff and plugged the card in to buy its successor, which had risen
about 10
bucks, but had grown duplexing ability. I have little doubt that it will
outlast me. I've made the reaper blink first several times but I'm also
87 now.
Take care and stay well, Liam.
Cheers, Gene Heskett.
