A query about backports and command line youtube downloaders

apt policy <packagename> 

will show you where a package comes from or if there are any newer
versions  in one of the repos ... 

also note that there are a bunch of actively maintained snaps for
various incarnations of youtube downloaders that are release
independent and rolling ...
