bootable thumb drive issue

Both Startup Disk Creator and Gparted make root the owner of the
device by default. Unless you've changed that, are you listed as the
owner of the device?

Open it in a terminal window and type stat -c "%U %G" to see if
you're the owner of the device.

Or try to create a file or directory on the device.

Or open it in a file manager and right-click in the right pane of the
file manager and see if you have the power to create a directory or
file.

Or right-click the device in the left pane and choose Properties and
then open the Permissions tab to see who the owner of the device is.
