The first link was ideal, offering 2 approaches. The first one gave people
some problems so I went for the second option:

0. At the bootup password entry screen  / lockscreen
1. Click on the password field (or when typing in password), look for cog
wheel on the right bottom corner and click o n it.
2. This gives you two options-
Ubuntu Wayland
Ubuntu on XOrg

I selected Ubuntu on XOrg, logged in, briefly ran the snap-store app and it
didn't crash.
