Because I would, and I feel it's just human nature to expect others to
think as I do.
That aside, I agree with Colin's and Ian's advice.
TBH I can't even imagine the mindset that would do something so
complex and _not_ remember the details. If I were inclined to do
complex things like that, and it sounds horrendous to me so I very
much would not, then I would know I'd remember, and if I knew I
wouldn't remember then I either wouldn't do it, or I'd leave myself
notes.
I've been fixing computers for over 40 years now. If I know something
needs an elaborate hack I either find a way to do it without the hack,
or if that doesn't work, I email myself and leave text files in
multiple places on multiple computers.
So, for instance, yesterday I wrote about the ICQ chat service
shutting down. It got sold in 2010 and I tried it then, and I was able
to find my user ID in seconds, and then know what password I used in
1996, because that is how my memory works.
