Last time I did this, on the new machine:
1. Open Firefox and make sure it functions. Then close it down.
2. find the location of the Firefox profile folder. On my machine
~/.mozilla/firefox/
The profile folder is named something like "xhoenfhk.default"
3. On the old machine, find the similar folder. And copy the entire profile
folder.
4. Paste into the new machine next to the brand new one.
5. Finally, rename both profile folders so that the one you want has the
same name as the one Firefox created.
CAUTION! Last time I did this was 10 years and many FF versions ago. It may
not work so cleanly now.
One way to find out might be to grep through the old profile folder looking
for the profile folder name prefix. In my example above, "xhoenfhk". If
found, you may want to fix that before trying to open.
