Not necessarily, nor do I want to spent a lot of money on a replacement 
wireless router.

If I cannot find a way to block Nighthawk wasteful ways then a Chinese 
replacement would likely be within my budget, but of course, it would 
have to be compatible with the Telstra network.

I connect to the Nighthawk wirelessly. The network monitor applet shows 
the data stream. There is no outward data stream when when I'm connected 
to the phone's hot-spot.

It was my AI friend's suggestion that Nighthawk's telemetry could be 
black-listed.
