kicad does not take any keyboard input

I don't know about ubuntu-24.04. but KiCAD 6.0.11 works just find under
Debian 12 on my Raspberry Pi 5 (aarch64). I did have ubuntu (22?) running on
an AMD PC and KiCAD (I think 5?) on it an it worked just fine as well.
What version of KiCAD did you install? How did you install it?
