Chromium etc prompts me for a password every time I log in

Yes. I am using a laptop with a tv connected, so there are two displays.
I spent a lot if time trying to make it work with two displays but the
problem is that the display manager will set the displays appropriately,
and then gnome comes along and resets them inappropriately. I eventually
got it working by telling gnome to use only one display, i.e. the
television, and that worked quite well. But lightdm uses two and the
login prompt appears on the laptop with the wrong resolution etc.
