I was using the term loosely. The Ubuntu installer, as in, the bootable  
Ubuntu iso that boots to a desktop, with an icon for the actual installer  
program.

Instead you can open up a terminal window – I don't remember if there was a  
separate icon for that or if I hunted it down in the menu – and then take  
it from there.

That probably means that Ubuntu 24 includes mdadm in the live image. Ubuntu  
20/22 did not, one had to pull it in with apt.
