A Microserver? I use 2 x gen 1 and one gen 8 here.
You need a separate boot drive from the data drives.
Also, Ubuntu is not great for this. Needs a lot of manual work.
I use TrueNAS Core.
If your server has lots of RAM -- 16GB or more -- TrueNAS Scale may be OK.
