On this laptop, running Ubuntu (not Xubuntu or other flavours) with 8GiB
RAM, here are the details:
$XDG_SESSION_TYPE is "wayland"
$GDMSESSION is "ubuntu"
And it works perfectly fine.
Do you need other details?
