New to Ubuntu - Ethernet won't come up

DON'T do that. Leave it unknown. This is standard Ubuntu and macOS
practice for 20-25 years.
OK, questions.
1. I do not know this hardware. I googled but did not find a direct
match. But it mentioned 2 Ethernet ports.
Try both.
2. Update your computer's firmware.
3. When you redo this, or continue, after the first reboot, *update
Ubuntu*. That should be your first step. Do a full update, and only
then reboot.
4. If you have a GUI then you can run "Software sources" and get it to
check for any drivers you may need. The command is
`software-properties-gtk`.
5. Why use a USB DVD? Why not use a USB key? Quicker, cheaper, easier.
Better still, format it with Ventoy and you can put an assortment of
ISO files on it.
