Ubuntu 24.04 surface pro 6

Hi All - I took my old surface pro 6, and installed Ubuntu 24.04.
I installed the surface linux kernel and stuff so TOUCH screen works.
I enabled the on screen keyboard in the Settings screen.
This work for a Ubuntu input like a login password.

however - the keyboard pop up does not work for something like google.
The touch screen will open chrome lets say - but then when I touch in the
address bar
the keyboard does not pop up.

Is there a way to get the keyboard to pop up in those cases ?
