I expect you may be right, (I been wrong so many time on what the cause/cure 
is) I've held mesa for now but have not run update yet, I've wasted so long on 
what is not my daily driver OS, but I will try the update (if only to confirm)

Oldish Dell Insperion (not sure model #)

It's old but has worked well for me ever since I went from a Dell 21" CRT with 
duel inputs to my last 24" Samsung with only one input (hence the Balkin KVM)
