Thanks for the tip Jeff. I think I have solved this after following the
instructions on how to clear microphone permissions through the Firefox
address bar that come up when one first opens a Google Meet link. It
appears that I have to open the meeting link, then reset the permissions
and grant them again; I have to do this every time I use Google Meet. A
workable solution for now.

If I have nothing else to add, then thanks again.
