apt upgrade full-upgrade or dist-upgrade, what to use?

I've been using Ubuntu since 2006 and Linux since about 1995 and I
*still* don't really grasp the differences between upgrade, dist-
upgrade and full-upgrade :-)

One day I'll find an article that explains it so I can understand.
