How to get ffmpeg v 7.1 or higher?

I am running an Ubuntu Server 24.04.3 LTS and it has only this:

$ ffmpeg --version
ffmpeg version 6.1.1-3ubuntu5+esm4

I need version 7.1 or higher in order to use a recently added feature so can
someone here say how I can go about getting it?

I haver installed ffmpeg using apt and that gets me the distro version of
course. Waiting for new features is no fun so can I somehow similar to how I
could with yt-dlp get a current version on my server?

For yt-dlp there was a github releases site where the absolute latest could be
downloaded, is something like that available somewhere also for ffrmpeg itself
(which is part of the yt-dlp program)?

Else, how can I get it?
