Any links to good hardware forums or pointers to external HDD enclosures with controllers that never go stand by?

Ralf, I have a startech 3.5" external esata/usb 2.0 ide/sata enclosure and
it does not go
into sleep mode. It runs 24/7/365 until I stop it. These are no longer made
but I have
picked up a pretty new on on ebay in the past year.

Sabrent external enclosure does have a "rest" mode (at least that is what
support called it)
but for whatever reason it does not work on or with Linux. I looked at this
brand after I used
one of my work mates lent me theirs to for a project. It did not ever go
off when attached to
my system. When I looked at their site though - I couldnt verify that this
was the case and
passed on it.

The only other one I found that supposedly didnt sleep was the Tccmebius. I
was in
Toms Hardware forum and there was conflicting posts about if it did or did
not.
