Any links to good hardware forums or pointers to external HDD enclosures with controllers that never go stand by?

It's not easy to find old enclosures, but if you do find one, USB 2.0
should be fast enough for your needs. If the controller doesn't force
standby mode, there could be another problem: the maximum size of the
hard drive.

My minimum requirement is 2 TiB, which is probably also the maximum size
that these old enclosures support.

You can't have everything, but I would like to be able to install more
than 2 TiB if possible.

And even though I basically have almost no hope left, I still hope just
a little bit that there is a new enclosure on the market that doesn't
enforce such nonsense. I don't understand the point of it.
