GNUCash problem with missing register columns

I have tried the suggestion for making a missing column visible, 
however, I have been unable to get the collapsed columns to stay on the 
screen long enough so I can expand them. Does it matter if the collapsed 
columns are at the right END of the register? Other ideas?
