[ubuntu-za] Problems with my Dell machine

Thanks Maurice,
No - I just have the ShipIt disk. I did an update on my other machine to get
to 7.10 so I never did a download. (I actually only wanted the official
ShipIt disk to do my evangelisation thing, but then decided to use it while
I had it).
And, as I understand it - am I wrong? - the update facility only works from
one version to the next. So I would have to upgrade to 7.04 firs before
going to 7.10t. I thought it would be easier to do a re-install from
scratch. But the re-install doesn't work! (Actually, now I remember, the
update was pretty slow and I had to leave my machine on overnight while it
did its thing. A fresh install is definitely easier!)
Somebody suggested that I might not have enough memory. How do I find out
how much memory I have? (I hate to admit that I know how to do that in
Windows but don't have a clue in Linux!)
