[ubuntu-za] USB devices (camera) in Edgy

I find that when I plug in the camera a file of type
x-special/device-char opens in /dev/bus/usb/003/. The
name of this file is a three figure number that increases
by one every time you plug in the camera, and changing the
permissions on this file allows you to import the photos.
The file disappears when you unplug the camera which means
that you have to change the permissions on the new file
each time. Inconvenient, but not a train smash I guess.
